Elwell Hog Splitter
Hello!
I’m having a Hammer-In on Feb. 22nd. The goal of the day is to forge a large cleaver in the design of British Elwell Cleavers from the 1940’s. It is a heavy forging and should be alot of fun. It will be a combination of sledge hammer work (for those wanting to try swinging) and the power hammer to complete in time. The forging starts at 9:30am, a break for lunch, then grinding and heat treatment in the afternoon. The finished cleaver will then be given away at random to those in attendance!
*Small Children and pets must be kept away from the forging area, no exceptions.
WHAT TO BRING: Safety glasses and ear protection(It will be loud all day). A folding chair, if you want to take a break outside.
WHAT TO WEAR: Closed toe shoes and pants in the forging area.
COST: Nothing, I’m happy to have you in my shop! *donations are always nice to help pay for the material costs if you feel inclined.
FACILITIES: Porta-John and running water is available, along with parking in front of the shop.
